About

Hi, this is Jason and Jill Bishop and we are excited to share our farm and food with you.  We returned to Jason's family farm in the rolling hills of Eastern Washington, near the town of Edwall.  Jason retired from the corporate world in the Spring of 2016 and we have been busy setting up this new business.  We are excited about this new adventure we are embarking on and would like to share with you what we are learning along the way.

The name of "Living Heritage Farm" is intended to convey some core principles that we stand for.  The living aspect comes from the idea that our products will be fresh.  We also hope to make our rich agricultural heritage come alive by using breeds, equipment, and techniques from the past.

Our farm will grow heritage (heirloom) small grains (wheat, emmer, oats, and barley - etc...) using farm practices that are pre-commercial/industrial (green revolution) techniques.  One could call the techniques organic, but we seek to take a step beyond organic.  We call it regenerative because it isn't just about sustaining, it is about leaving the soil in a better state for the next steward.

There are four principles we stand on and they are outlined in more detail in the following pages.

1.      Reconnect
2.      Rediscover
3.      Regenerate
4.      For a Reason
